Homemade Playdough

Not only is this fun for kids to make but it only costs pennies to make versus buying play-dough at the store only to have it dry out a few days later. Why not have a recipe where you can have an endless supply?

2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 tsp cream of tartar or you can use this gives play-dough it fun flexibility shaping ability
2 cups warm water
2 teaspoons canola oil
Food coloring (we used red but any color will do)

Heat in a pan once the ingredients are mixed over medium heat. After a few minutes it should take form into dough.

Let it cool.

Let your kids have fun!

We used cookie cutters and this provided fun for several hours. We put it in a container to save again for another day. I may also try to add in some cocoa to have the play-dough smell like chocolate yummers! However, I would never suggest letting anyone eat this because of the high salt content, it just wouldn't be very good for humans or animals. Happy Saving!
